Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) is a database I’ve used for years on all sorts of economic studies. A whole lot of data is located here.
The National Futures Association is the Self-Regulatory body for the futures industry in the US. I was on their board for years as a representative to the Commodity Trading Advisor side of the industry.
Along with the the National Futures Association, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulates the futures industry in the US.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulates most of the managed investment business in the US.
FINRA is dedicated to investor protection and market integrity through effective and efficient regulation of broker-dealers. FINRA is not part of the government. They are a not-for-profit organization authorized by Congress to protect America’s investors by making sure the broker-dealer industry operates fairly and honestly.
USDA has loads of data and publications on the agricultural industry in the US. Very useful databases for information on commodities produced and consumed in the US.
Social Security Administration is the US government public retirement system
The United States Postal Service is the place to send mail and find addresses or zip codes. My father’s workplace back in the day.
The LexisNexis Community Crime database has crimes in your location by zip code, from the RAIDS database on crime.
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has a database of all crimes in the US. Statistics broken down by categories.
